It was Real Madrid who were the first team to win the trophy back in the 1955/56 season. Madrid actually won the trophy 5 times in succession stretching from the 1955/56 season to the 1959–60 season. Between now and 1960, Madrid have won Europe’s number one competition another 5 times; including last season’s 2013/2014 season win that made it 10 European title championships. It was an amazing Madrid versus Madrid final in which Real beat 2 times runners up Atlético Madrid.
Only one other team sets the ranks alongside Liverpool European Cup trophy wins. Bayern Munich’s most recent trophy was in 2013, which helped the club equal Liverpool’s current record of 5. Just 2 years ago Munich beat Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund in an epic all out German final.
