Cup Final Preview

Manchester City face off against Liverpool this Sunday as we try to find out which one of these two fierce competitors earn the right to get their hands on the Capital One Cup. A lot has been said about both these teams over the course of the season, especially in the managerial side of things.

Liverpool replaced Brendan Rodgers with Jurgen Klopp earlier in the campaign while City will replace Manuel Pellegrini with Pep Guardiola during the close season. Both these managers need to lift the League Cup for two very different reasons. Klopp will be hoping to get the fans on board with some silverware within just four months since joining the club. Pellegrini on the other hand will be hoping to leave with his head held high as he embarks on the dog days of his City career.

In terms of team news, Manchester City will be without the services of Samir Nasri, Kevin De Bruyne, Jesus Navas and Fabian Delph. Bacary Sagna and Wilfried Bony however may just make it back to fitness in time for the game. On the bright side, City will be glad to have skipper Vincent Kompany raring to go after enduring a troubling spell without their talisman.

For Liverpool, the injury situation is far more serious. The Reds will have to make do without Danny Ings, Joe Gomez, Joe Allen, Adam Lallana and Kevin Stewart. Dejan Lovren and Martin Skrtel are both back in training but the former is may just make it in time for the clash against City while the same cannot be said about the latter as he is expected to need another two weeks.

Daniel Sturridge and Phillipe Coutinho though are two stars who are sure to feature for Jurgen Klopp on Sunday. The German boss will be relieved to have both these talents fit again after their recent injury setbacks.

Both these sides have had very different campaigns this season but despite their massive points difference in the league and vastly different ambition, both these teams will head into the game with their eyes firmly set on emerging as winners.
