Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool career has failed and there are no two ways to put it. Forget about having some silverware to show, our under qualified boss does not even have proper hit signings that can mark his three years at the club as a success. The man has signed tons of players over a span of seven transfer windows and three years, and how many can be truly called a success?
A quick look into the history books will reveal that Rodgers has signed 31 players for a total of £291 million. So, that’s almost £300 million that he has spent over a period of around 38 months. My question now is this, which football manager on earth can still get to keep his job after delivering absolutely nothing despite spending almost £300 million over a span of three seasons?
The answer is of course, Brendan Rodgers, but this little point also tells us a lot about our owners. Fenway Sports Group and their bigwigs John Henry and Tom Werner are actually some of the best owners that we could ever hope to find. They not only bought the club, but also paid off our debts and then managed to bankroll the spending spree of a poorly learned football technician who has taken on the responsibility of ruining Liverpool Football Club from the inside, like termites chew out healthy trees and reduce them to non-living stumps.
Of his 31 signings, seven were signed during this off season, and it would not be possible to judge them right now. So, out of the remaining 24 individuals, Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho are the only two players who can be considered as proper successes. Simon Mignolet and Emre Can are two players who have divided the opinion and while it would be unfair to label them as flops, it would also be incorrect to coronate them as hits.
Therefore, the remaining 20 players that he bought and the £211m or so that he spent on them have all been for nothing. I mean, take a look at the where some of his signings from last year are right now! £16m signing Mario Balotelli has been booted back to Milan on loan, £20m signing Lazar Markovic is on loan at Fenerbahce, Javier Manquillo had his loan deal cancelled, £4m signing Rickie Lambert has been sold to West Brom, £10m signing Divock Origi is warming the bench while £12m signing Alberto Moreno was being pushed out the door but failed to leave because no one wanted to spend a penny on him.
Adam Lallana has failed to justify even half of his £25m price tag while Agent Dejan Lovren is doing a great job for our rivals by making sure we continue to drop points thanks to him. Refreshingly, Emre Can is the only lad who has managed to earn any form of respect during his Liverpool career.
Personally, I do not care what you think of me. No matter if you’re a fellow Red or a fan of our rivals. I can already see quite a few of my fellow Reds saying that I’m not a real fan and that I don’t really support the club, but there is no two ways about the present situation. Liverpool Football Club is a shambles.
We are getting beaten 3-0 and 6-1 by West Ham and Stoke City and you may question my integrity all you like, but it’s about time we bid good bye to Brendan Rodgers and the good old days.
